Uzbekistan's population exceeds 33.3 million

According to the  State Committee on Statistics, as for April 1, 2019, the number of permanent population of the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 33375.8 thousand people and has increased by 120.3 thousand people, or 0.4 %, since the beginning of the year.

Urban and rural population is almost equal.  While 50.5 % of the total population live in the cities, 49.5 % represent the rural population.

 Only 59.5% are persons of working age, with 30.4% of total permanent population are young dependents, and 10.1% – old dependents.

Samarkand and Fergana regions are the most populated, while the population of Surkhandarya, Jizzakh and Kashkadarya regions is growing slightly faster than across the country in general.

The civil registry offices recorded 53.7 thousand marriages and 8.0 thousand divorces.
