Shamsiddin Vohidov beats Magnus Carlsen, the world chess champion

International master Shamsiddin Vohidov defeated the current world champion Magnus Carlsen at World Rapid and Blitz World Championships in St. Petersburg.

After a blunder on the 22nd move, Carlsen should have been left without a piece but decided to sacrifice the queen instead. Shamsiddin Vohidov used his chance and forced his opponent to surrender on the 36th move.

In other games, Nodirbek Yokuboev played a draw with Stanislav Novikov, while Nodirbek Abdusattorov lost to Spaniard Lopez Ivan Salgado.

Vohidov, Yokuboev and Abdusattorov recently became winners at the World Chess Olympiad in the Turkish city of Konya, and were awarded a President gift - a Spark car.
