58 people died in northern India due to floods

Floods and heavy rains in the northern states of India have led to the death of 58 people in the last two days.

In Uttarakhand, 32 people became victims of the disaster and eight went missing; in the state of Himachal Pradesh, 26 local residents died. Since the beginning of August, as a result of floods in India, about 300 people have died.

In New Delhi, a high level of water is recorded in the Yamuna River, on which the city stands. Over the past day, more than 10 thousand people were evacuated. They were resettled in temporary accommodation camps, TASS reports.

Torrential rains that struck India caused floods, numerous landslides, river spills, and the water level in local reservoirs reached a critical level. In many areas of the country, transport links are disrupted. Building collapses and numerous accidents have been reported. According to experts, the current monsoon has become one of the most destructive for India in the last 10 years.
