Specialists discussed regional cooperation in the energy sector

On April 10, Tashkent hosted Energy Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program of the Asian Development Bank.

At the meeting, which was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member countries of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation, issues of development of mutually beneficial ties in the energy sector, meeting the region’s need for electricity, introducing modern technologies into the system were discussed.
 
This year, the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program is chaired by the Republic of Uzbekistan.
 
The Asian Development Bank has adopted a new strategy for development of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation in the energy sector, which is scheduled until 2030. 80 billion USD will be allocated to mitigate climate change.
 
At the event, views were exchanged on regional trade and investment projects, alternative energy sources, construction of micro-hydro power plants, as well as other issues.
