More than half a million per year

The population of Uzbekistan increased by 597.4 thousand people in 2018.

According to the State Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2019, the resident population was 33,254.1 thousand people and increased by 597.4 thousand people, or 1.8%.

The urban population was 16 805 thousand people (50.5%), rural population - 16 449.1 thousand people (49.5%).

The population density is 74.1 people per 1 square. km. The highest population density is noted in Andijan (per 1 sq. Km - 713.2 people), Fergana (544.8 people) and Namangan (370 people) regions, and the lowest - in Navoi region (8.8 people) and Karakalpakstan (11 , 2 people).

30.3% of the total resident population is younger than the working age, 59.5% are of working age and 10.2% are older.

In 2018, 768.3 thousand children were born, 400.9 thousand are boys, and 367.4 thousand are girls. The birth rate increased by 1.2 ppm in comparison with 2017.

The mortality rate was 4.7 ppm and decreased by 0.3 ppm compared with 2017.

In 2018, 311.4 thousand marriages were registered. Interestingly, 44.6 thousand of them took place in October and only 15.5 thousand in February. Meanwhile 32.3 thousand marriages failed – this is the divorce rate for 2018.

The number of people arrived in Uzbekistan for permanent residence is 2849 people, of which 28.1% come from Tajikistan, 27.5% from Kazakhstan, 24.1% from Russia, 9.7% from Kyrgyzstan and 10, 6% - from other countries.

The number of people emigrated for permanent residence is a little over 19 thousand people. Of these, 47.2% went to Russia, 47.1% to Kazakhstan, 1.2% to the United States, 0.7% to Israel, 3.8% to other countries.

As of January 1, 2019, the number of population in Tashkent was 2.510 million people, since the beginning of last year it has increased by 45.9 thousand people, or 1.9%.

In Tashkent 46.3 thousand children born. The number of deaths in 2018 was 15.7 thousand people, of which 581 are children who died before reaching the age of one. The natural increase in the population in Tashkent was 30.6 thousand people - by 3.9 thousand more than in 2017. Also registered 20.3 thousand marriages and 4.3 thousand divorces.
