Islands of bad luck

The Umberto tropical storm hit the Bahamas - less than 2 weeks after the devastating and deadly Hurricane Dorian.

The victims of the latter were at least 52 people.

Umberto was less dangerous. Its epicenter passed 135 km north of the Abaco Islands, the most affected by the Dorian, and then went into the open ocean, bypassing the US state of Florida. The wind speed on the islands of Abaco and Greater Bahamas reached 26 m / s. For comparison - gusts of wind during the passage of "Dorian" reached 82 m / s.

But the Umberto brought heavy rains with it. It is expected that another 5 to 10 mm of precipitation will fall on the already flooded islands.
