Uzbekistan introduces 13th vaccine into the state vaccination schedule

The new vaccine is to prevent human papillomavirus, according to the public relations department of the Ministry of Health.

This was announced at a conference in Tashkent, which was attended by representatives of WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA.

According to estimates by the World Health Organization, every year more than 1,600 women in Uzbekistan develop cervical cancer. Vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most effective ways to prevent it.

Immunization against HPV is scheduled to begin in October 2019. More than 400 thousand girls at the age of 9 will be vaccinated in schools and primary medical institutions. In April 2020, they will receive a second dose of vaccine.
