NASA's New Horizons sets another record

NASA's New Horizons spacecraft has completed its flyby of the most distant object ever explored, the Ultima Thule.

"Everything looks great”, mission Operation Manager Alice Bowman commented the spacecraft condition after the flyby, “we're definitely looking forward to getting down the science data so all of our scientists— and the world — can see what the origins of our solar system has to hold for us."

In 2015 New Horizons has successfully flown past the dwarf planet Pluto and Ultima Thule is 1,5 km further out and 6.5 billion km from Earth. A new picture returned from Nasa's New Horizons spacecraft shows Ultima Thule to be two objects joined together - to give a look like a "snowman".
