The Netherlands is no longer the Holland

The Dutch government has decided to stop calling itself the Holland and only real name will be used instead - Netherlands.

This will be part of the measures to upgrade the global image of the country, reports «The Guardian».

The introduction of a national rebranding will start at the end of the year - the government, the Tourist Board business representatives signed an agreement on the implementation of the official name of the country in all aspects of national life, from associations with places and ending with football teams.

Due to the rebranding of the authorities intend to shift the focus from the famous "business card" of the state: available drug, a district of Amsterdam and other red-light district. The Foreign Ministry said that the government wants to introduce the Netherlands "as an open, inventive and inclusive country."

National football team, which is often called "Holland", will now be called only by the Netherlands.
